![]() ![]() There's a good free bus system in Park City that will take you where ever you want to go. If you are visiting during ski season and can get yourself to one of the pick up points with your luggage (the bus does not originate from the airport), then you don't need a car to get around Park City. You need to absolutely rent FAR in advance because many places will sell out of cars this Summer Edited: 1 year When are you planning on visiting? I've rented from hertz, enterprise, national, avis, and budget. These three business groups have a combined market share of almost 94 percent. and there is/was a huge shortage of rental cars, and prices have been up by 50 to 100% -įirst, there is Enterprise Holdings, which owns Enterprise, National, and Alamo, then there is the Hertz Group, comprising Hertz, Thrifty, and Dollar and, lastly, there is also the Avis-Budget Group. it's still about the same now, other than Hertz declared bankruptcy but of course it's still operating. Some people rent with consolidators which I guess works if you're coming from the UK.ĭo some googling of "how to rent a car in America for UK residents."įrom a 2017 article on the major rental car agencies in the United States. ![]() We appreciated Nu Car’s rates, just be sure to read the fine print before you rent from them. But when you rent you need to rent from the UK version of their website, that way all the insurance you need is included. We gambled again by getting another bargain deal from Fox Rent A Car in SLC for our trip to Idaho and thankfully had no issues with that company. However, apparently they’re a small company and we weren’t prepared for these quirks - we should have read the fine print. In the end, it was hard to beat Nu Car rental rates. As we had prepaid and our booking was non-refundable, we had to eat the cost of renting a car from another agency for that portion of our trip. We had never rented a car with such restrictions before. Considering Idaho was only an hour and a half away, we were quite astonished. Next, we found out we were not allowed to drive the car to Idaho, one of our intended destinations. Still, considering we had prepaid, we felt they should have held our car. Thankfully, a suitable car arrived in a bit over an hour. Their lot was empty and they said it could be hours or days. Nu Car said our only option was to wait indefinitely for another suitable car to arrive. Jun 2022 We arrived (granted two hours and five minutes late) to find that the car we had prepaid for had been given to someone else. Is this how your employees are trained? Do you think most people are just going to shrug it off because they are at an airport and really have no other choice? Never again with Enterprise. So what is the deal Enterprise? You tried to screw me coming and going. I asked for a manager and she finally took this phantom charge off my bill. 3 days of taxes at $48 is $16/day, and she could not tell my why the taxes would be $140 for 1 extra day. I showed her my original reservation which showed $86/day and a total of $48 for 3 days of taxes. This time, the agent was trying to tell me that taxes for 1 extra day was over $100. When I dropped the car off, it was over a $200 difference again. I called Enterprise and it was confirmed that there was nothing in my reservation that had ever indicated drop off at a different location, and I was advised to call on a Monday to get it resolved. The agent could not figure out why, and then suggested that it was because my drop off location was different, which it was not, Pick up and drop off were at SLC airport. At pickup, I was charged $206 more than what my reservation was for. I will never use Enterprise again and am already advising my friends and family of the terrible experience I had. Cons: Staff was awful, both at pick up and drop off.
